An Experienced Carpenter is one that manages all aspects of a carpentry project from start to finish, works and communicates harmoniously with project foremen and managers, effectively communicates with and manages employees, maintains an encouraging and enjoyable work environment for those working under them, and ensures all work undertaken is done so to the highest standard.


Responsibilities of an Experienced Carpenter are:

  • Assist in the preparation of job sites prior to the beginning of a project.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and specifications to perform work activities and calculate requirements.
  • Prepare layouts and build foundations.
  • Operate various hand tools, power tools, and equipment used to complete carpentry duties, including circular saw, table saw, router, pneumatic nail gun, ramset, drills, and other tools used for measuring, cutting, fastening, and drilling.
  • Complete a variety of job tasks involving general carpentry, formwork, finish carpentry, framing, decks, fences, and postandbeam structures (cabanas, loggias, pergolas, etc.) to assist with the completion of landscape construction projects.
  • Help schedule and coordinate carpentry work on job sites.
  • Load and unload carpentry materials, tools, and equipment required to complete projects.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on carpentry tools and equipment by conducting inspections, lubricating, and cleaning on a daily basis.
  • Supervise other workers.
  • Complete and submit daily paperwork reporting time and job costs.
  • Be equipped with appropriate PPE at all times. Ensure any labourers/crew members also equipped with appropriate PPE.
  • Comply with all company policies and regulations.
  • Work in accordance with all local health and safety laws and regulations.

Applicant Skills and Qualifications

The following skills and qualifications are required:

  • Completion of one of the following: college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with general carpentry, formwork, finish carpentry, framing, decks, fences, and postandbeam structures (cabanas, loggias, pergolas).
  • Capable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and own vehicle.
  • Knowledge of specific materials, methods, tools and equipment required to complete various landscape/construction practices.

  • Ability to withstand the physical demands of job requirements and weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift at least 50LBS.
  • Ability to travel to and from job sites (license and own vehicle).

  • We typically operate from April to December (weather dependent). Operating months may extend into January, February, and March depending on the type of work occurring
  • Our standard work week is Monday to Friday from 7am to 5:30pm (50 hours/week).
