ABOUT THE ROLE


As a key member of Innocap's Talent & Culture team, the Benefits Specialist will act as primary administrator of our HRIS and as expert on all aspects of the US and Canada group benefits and retirement plans.

You will also be a key contributor to the activities of the Talent & Culture team.

The Benefits and Payroll Specialist's will have the following responsibilities:

Benefits / Liaison / Resource Person

  • Coordinate with our US and Canada group insurance carriers, retirement, and payroll providers regarding all aspects of our plans, including ongoing service, service standards, and accuracy of documentation (contracts, booklets, etc.)
  • Collaborate with finance department for vendor payments and payroll to ensure that employee enrollment, changes, and terminations are accurately entered
  • Maintain knowledge of legislation and ensure compliance of all benefit programs including medical (including COBRA compliance in the US), dental, disability, life and AD&D insurance, retirement, taxefficient accounts, workers compensation, family leave and wellness plans, in both Canada and the US
  • Oversee the annual enrollment processes and support the annual renewal of contracts with group benefits and insurance carriers
  • Act as expert to effectively explain our benefits to team members and employees in the US and Canada. Respond to general questions or enquiries and assist with resolving ad hoc claims and coverage issues.

Payroll / Support

  • Execute payroll with our Finance team for US and Canada employees
  • Work with Talent and Culture team to develop and implement new benefit programs
  • Provide support to the hiring, onboarding, and offboarding processes
  • Participate in special projects, including the 2023 HR Harmonization project undertaken by Innocap

Systems / Data / Reporting

  • Responsible for administering our HRIS (BambooHR), including implementing enhancements to improve processes
  • Respond in a timely manner to various internal _(ex. colleagues for client presentations)_ and external _(ex. statistics Canada, auditors) _requests for employee data reports
  • Run regular reports and audits and bring any issues, errors, or discrepancies to the attention of the Talent & Culture leadership

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Having completed a DCS/DEC, AEC, certificate or bachelor's in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills both in French and in English given the international nature of the work
  • Experience with administration of US and/or Canadian employee benefit programs
  • Handson experience with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS)
  • Familiarity with labour legislation and payroll processes
  • Excellent attention to details, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and proven abilities and interest in data handling
  • A high degree of professionalism in handling sensitive and confidential information
