Matrix is hiring local Iron Workers/Metal Fabricators for a long-term project in Halifax, NS.

The pay rate is $37.12/hr.

Our client has been building quality vessels for over 50 years and has been at the forefront of Canadian shipbuilding for over 130 years.

Key Responsibilities:

Areas of specialization: shipbuilding, structural metal or steel, plate work, pressure vessel.
Measure, cut, grind, fit, align and tack weld parts.
The layout of reference points and patterns.
Assemble and fit plates and sections to form structures.
Install interior structures, hatches, doors, bulkheads, etc. to complete all of the steelwork in the ship.
Layout construct patterns and templates.
Read, interpret, plan, and execute drawings, blueprints, and procedures.

Requirements:

Able to lift a weight up to fifty pounds (50 lbs).
A preemployment Government Security Clearance/Background and Credit check will need to be completed.
Full PPE + Fit Tested Respirator Mask.

Qualifications:

Shipbuilding experience is an asset.
Completion of vocational, technical, and/or equivalent training or 5+ years of related experience.
CWB Certification.
Metal fabrication trade certification, or equivalent, is preferred.
Pipefitting and Ironworking experience is considered an asset.
Confined Space.
Fall Protection.
WHMIS.
HSE Orientation.
ISI Medium Voltage Cable Training.
ISI Lockout Tag Training.
ISI Security Orientation (In Person).
Must be able to commute to work daily.
