Position description

Job Duties

  • Ensure that the clinical skills and health and physical assessment curricula of the ISoN programs are implemented using best practices;
  • Track the introduction, reinforcement, and consolidation of clinical technical skills and physical assessment across programs;
  • Develop and implement inclusive teaching sessions for course specific skills;
  • Orient a diverse body of nursing students to the Satoko Shibata Clinical Nursing Laboratory setting;
  • Provide direct teaching, supervision, and evaluation of skills including use of low to high technology simulation in lab courses, as well as courses offered by Continuing Nursing Education Office;
  • Assist in freelab time and remedial labs;
  • Work collaboratively with other faculty members in the development and implementation of curricula;
  • Liaise with local clinical educational agencies to ensure that nursing students are learning relevant skills needed within their clinical placements;
  • Assist in the development of teaching materials including webbased learning modules;
  • Occasionally support clinical courses taught at the Ingram School of Nursing.


In addition, McGill faculty members are expected to contribute to service activities within their units, the University, and the wider scholarly community.

Qualifications and Education requirements


Minimum requirements for consideration are:

  • Master's degree completed or in progress (to be completed before the end of the 3 year contract) with active OIIQ license;
  • Minimum 4 years of fulltime clinical experience;
  • Demonstrated abilities with a broad range of clinical technical skills and Health and Physical Assessments;
  • Experience with simulation and debriefing an asset;
  • Experience in nursing education and clinical supervision of a diverse student body;
  • A demonstrated commitment to and in accordance with circumstances, a track record in equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI);


  • Valid CPR certification

  • BLS provider course;
  • Bilingualism.
