Job Summary


We are looking for a passionate Business Data Analyst who will turn data into information, information into insight and insight into business decisions.

Working closely with NSCN Service areas leads, the incumbent will actively contribute to meeting the NSCN vision, mission, values and strategic objectives.


The Business Data Analyst will deliver services to both internal and external clients through effective systems analysis and design, modelling, programming, and business data analysis.

They will have solid programming and analytical skills and have the ability to quickly understand client needs and translate this into useful data and reporting mechanisms.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Understand analytical needs, including critical metrics and KPIs and deliver actionable insight to NSCN and its stakeholders
  • Centralize data for the organization and provide regular reporting
  • Explore various sources of data information to uncover opportunities for efficiencies and effectiveness
  • Identify, analyze, forecast and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Present findings, conclusions and recommendations in a clear and understandable way using visualizations
  • Track, monitor and forecast trends in the external environment ie., nursing, regulation etc.
  • Create reports for NSCN Board, staff, government and other stakeholders to be used both internally and externally
  • Create and use evaluation frameworks to measure and report on the effectiveness of key NSCN projects and initiatives
  • Perform programming and quantitative analysis services on research or policy issues by accessing internal and external data sources, integrating, and reconciling data from alternate sources, analyzing and disseminating results in order to respond to requests.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Five or more years experience as a Business Data Analyst or Data Analyst
  • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Microsoft Power BI), Ddatabases (SQL etc) and programming (excel, SPSS, SAS etc.)
  • In depth knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings in a clear and useable manner
  • Minimum of BSc in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics

Knowledge & Competencies

  • Demonstrated excellent analytical, oral, written and presentation skills
  • Knowledge or expertise in healthcare management, information technology, finance and human resources
  • Ability to strategically align corporate business objectives with the organization's vision, mission and strategic objectives
  • Demonstrated selfstarter and problem solver and able to work with minimum supervision
