    As an integral part of the Fibre Team, the Silviculture Supervisor is responsible for implementing the operational delivery of key aspects of Conifex's Silviculture Program, liaising with the Harvesting team, Planning Superintendent, as well as First Nations, External Partners and Stakeholders.

    Key responsibilities:


    • Ensure the highest level of workplace safety through implementation of systems, audits, and practices.

    • Supervise direct reporting staff to create a highly functional aligned team.

    • Remaining compliant with existing legislation and Sustainable Forest Management requirements

    • Participate in seedling sourcing and procurement activities with nurseries.

    • Preparation of major contracts (i.e. planting and nurseries)

    • Assist in the timely and accurate calculation and reconciliation of silviculture accruals and reforestation liabilities.

    • Satisfying internal and external audit protocols with regards to future liabilities and business practices

    • Remaining compliant with all applicable Occupational Health and Safety Requirements, existing legislation, and Sustainable Forest Management requirements

    • Manage contractor safety, performance, and environmental leadership.

    • Implementation of and quality assessments for all silviculture programs including tree planting, site preparation, brushing, surveys, milestone declarations and preparation of SP amendments

    • Participate in the on-going refinement of standard operating procedures & business processes including surveys, free growing declarations, stock types, treatment activities and LRM data management.

    • Participate in the development and communication of new program initiatives and opportunities for improvement.

    • Participate in Opportunities To Be Heard for any alleged non-compliances by C&E

    • Mentoring temporary staff in the implementation of the silviculture programs

    • May need to spend time in logging camps and work a diverse range of hours.

    • May require the ability to undertake long workweeks and fieldwork under unpredictable environmental conditions

    Here's what we're looking for:


    • University Degree or Technical Diploma in Forestry or a related field, and be an RPF, RFT, or eligible to enroll with the Forest Professionals of British Columbia

    • Minimum 2 years' experience across a spectrum of forestry work including cruising, planning, harvesting and silviculture

    • Strong work ethic and love of the outdoors

    • Excellent leadership and communication skills, project management skills, and an ability to work within a team environment

    • Knowledge of applicable BC legislation and policies.

    • Self-motivated team player with ability to communicate verbally and in writing

    • Strong computer skills and aptitude for forestry-based technologies

    • The salary range for this position is between $75,000-$90,000.
