  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Develop and help to grow deep understanding of SRE discipline and practices in the engineering community.
  • Challenge the status quo and discover opportunities to optimize in a continuously growing large complex hybrid environment.
  • Lead on call problem escalation and outage recovery effort, not limited to code fixes in presentation and integration layer, but also provide infrastructure level investigation and support where necessary.
  • Develop automation solutions and/or procure solutions in optimizing manual operational work.
  • Map business problems to reusable endtoend solutions, lead technical configuration, and support deployment throughout the organization.
  • Design globally reusable solutions that will support all BNS business lines across the multiple geographical locations
  • Proactively partner with business line representatives to drive improved technology solutions that support business strategy.
  • Maintain line of sight into the evolving technological innovations; bring new ideas and leading technology into solution designing and team discussions
  • Communicate all concepts and guidelines to development team successfully.
  • Oversee progress of development team to ensure consistency with initial design.
  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to developers and engineers.
  • Ensure software meets all requirements of quality, security, modifiability, extensibility etc.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in daytoday activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of daytoday business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

  • 5+ years' experience leading an operations or Site Reliability Engineering team.
  • Proven experience building and managing largescale systems operating with large volume of data and events.
  • Experience in architecting and leading scalable systems.
  • Understanding of best software development and security practices.
  • Build and lead the operational aspects for the engineering team and help the members grow both technically and professionally.
  • Experience in financial payments processing architecture will be a plus
  • Lead, inspire, teach, and influence the team to embrace modern engineering practices that enable them to frequently release highquality services.
  • Collaborate with other teams in Scotia Digital to ensure we are providing the best support to our clients.
  • Provide production support for customer issues and proactively work to improve operational efficiency.
  • Comfortable using Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, Git.
  • Understanding of Agile development process.
  • Proven ability to translate ideas into technical and business realities, and to map technology to business problems.
  • Familiarity with workflow designs, API deployment, and cloud development
  • Understanding of software quality assurance principles
  • A technical mindset with great attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to influence decision making across stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple complex initiatives.
  • Regulatory or compliance knowledge.
