Manager, COO Functions Advisory, Capital Markets Performance Management


What is the opportunity?


The Manager, COO Functions Advisory, Capital Markets Performance Management role will provide the successful incumbent with the opportunity to work in a very dynamic environment.

You will be globally responsible for the production, articulation and delivery of management information for COO Functions, including BCS.

In doing so, you will be supporting the generation of financial insights to CM COO (EVP) and their Operating Committee (SVP/VP), to enable strategic decisions on investments, hiring and cost management.

This spans both departmental expenditures as well as financial insights and advisory to the group's interactions with other CM businesses on a recurring basis.


What will you do?

  • Drive delivery of monthly reporting and analysis for forums such as BCS Operating Committed and COO Leadership Operating Committee; including insightful view / analyses on NIE and headcount trends, red flags, and areas of opportunities to facilitate discussion.
  • Further enhance and build on Finance's internal capabilities in cost reporting to further proliferate learnings and best practices across CM Finance's Advisory teams.
  • Work closely with Associate Directors, Director and Senior Director in providing analysis to CM COO through annual compensation.
  • Participate in the construction as well as challenge financial estimates, forecast updates, annual plan cycle, 5year outlook and line of business reviews with a comprehensive understanding of forwardlooking trends.
  • Going beyond financials to create value for stakeholders; utilizing the appropriate metrics and analytics to support and supplement the financials and recharges to its front office clients in a context that clarifies the operational activity and impact from their business models.
  • Support some of the production of management reporting and data analysis as well as some of the less complex functions across the COO organization.

Time Allocation:


  • 80% financial and management reporting responsibilities for the COO Capital Markets business including the production and analysis of forwardlooking information and advisory.
  • 20% advisory and support with relationship management across the COO unit as a whole and the broader advisory team in CM including Performance Management.

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have:


  • 24 years of experience in complex wholesale business activity, with good understanding of Capital Markets businesses and transactions, and associated risks & returns.
  • Experience in management reporting and analysis, stakeholder interactions and relationship management.
  • Undergraduate Degree in Finance/Business or related field.
  • Keen sense of numbers and strong analytical skills with ability to multitask and handle highpressure executive level requests on a continuous basis.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Proactive and persistent in issue resolution.

Nice to Have:


  • Able to exercise independent thought and judgment as needed and adapt to new tasks quickly.
  • CPA or CFA or Finance MBA highly preferred.
  • Very strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint Presentation skills required, with data mining skill and ability to explore new technologies to enhance the delivery of financial information.
  • Exposure to any of the following would be preferred:
  • Solid experience and good understanding of bank structure, risk management concepts, financial markets and instruments.
  • Experience in financial modelling including understanding of statistics, risk or other quantitative metrics.
