Description
Arts / Entertainment / PublishingAs Head of Cinematography you will establish and lead our Previs pipeline and tool development in collaboration with technical and creative leadership.
Initially this role will begin on a feature film project as Previs Supervisor, where in conjunction with the Director of Photography and the Director, you will define the camera blocking, lens choice and composition, while working closely with other departments to ensure smooth transitions and improved tools and processes.
Once the film is out of Previs you will transition to the studio as Head of Cinematography to continue to drive our capability and process for the department.
Define processes, workflows and tools to support and further the department's capabilities with production and pipelineEnsure that the conversion of the storyboard into a 3D scene aligns with the director's directives regarding framing and camera movement
Liaise between all department supervisors – up and down stream - identifying needs and ensuring a seamless transition into animation, rendering, etc.
Establish training materials and creation of Wiki to document process.Collaborate with the Head of Assets to develop best practices for the creation of Environments and Set dressing
Participate in new project bids defining capabilities, infrastructure needs, costs, and process.
5+ years of experience in Layout/Previs, preferably in the context of a full CG feature film.
~3+ years of experience as a Layout/Previs Supervisor, preferably in the context of a full CG feature film.
~ A keen eye for visual composition and a solid understanding of camera techniques.
~ Understanding of rigging processes and principles.
