At the Ministry of Infrastructure, we are responsible for planning, building and managing government-owned infrastructure.


Alberta Infrastructure is responsible for delivering one quarter of the Capital Plan which is working to address the provincial infrastructure needs of Alberta's population, and supporting key social programs and services and economic development.


The Ministry designs, builds, manages and maintain government-owned and operated facilities, and collaborates with other ministries to ensure that school and hospital infrastructure meet the needs of Alberta's population.


Infrastructure provides accommodation services and manages a large portfolio of owned and leased facilities while maintaining fiscal accountability and optimizing value of Albertans.

Role Responsibilities:


The Facilities Manager is responsible for the effective and efficient management of an assigned portfolio of government owned and/or leased facilities.

This position manages a multidisciplinary team of supervisors, staff members, consultants, and/or contractors providing comprehensive facilities management services, including those relating to mechanical and electrical system operation, occupational health and safety, emergency planning, security, energy management, and building and grounds maintenance.

Reporting to the Area Director, the Facilities Manager performs work in accordance with relevant legislation, policies, guidelines, standards, and procedures, as well as applicable municipal and code requirements.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure that staff members and contractors operate facilities efficiently following OCHS plans
  • Establish and manage preventative maintenance programs to ensure that building components are properly maintained
  • Establish scope, terms and cost estimates for property management service contracts; ensuring they are administered in a fair and equitable manner in accordance with applicable terms
  • Manage tracking and forecasting of operating costs associated with leases
  • Develop and manage manpower, contracted operations and utilities budgets to ensure proper control and accounting of costs
  • Recruitment, leadership and coaching staff members.

Qualifications:


Required:

University degree in a field related to the position assignment, PLUS five years related experience or equivalency as described


Equivalency:

Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis

  • 5 years experience in facilities management and / or RPA, CPM, CFM designation
  • Demonstrated supervisory and leadership experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of budgets, contracts (negotiations) and project leases
  • Superior written communication skills
