Our client is The City of Edmonton.
Marigold Infrastructure Partners DBJV has the privilege and responsibility of designing and building a rapid transit system that not only serves communities and destinations but also integrated and identifies with them.
The Valley Line LRT is a 27km low-floor, community-integrated LRT line that will unite and shape Edmonton from the southeast to the far west end.
It will include 14 stops, two elevated stations, two new bridges, a light maintenance facility, and an expansion to the operations and maintenance facility.
Job description
Develops, implements, and maintains project scheduling functions on one or more larger sections of the overall scope of work.
The Lead Scheduler is a fully qualified professional with solid experience, technical expertise, and familiarity with company policies and procedures to complete complicated tasks independently.
Responsibilities:
Provides guidance, direction and specialized assistance for the resolution of the difficult project scheduling challenges
Analyzes, evaluates, and forecasts current status against an established baseline schedule
Support the planning and scheduling on the project to ensure rail project teams optimization
Assesses the impact(s) of design or construction changes and schedule slippages
Reports status of schedule to appropriate project and Company management as well as to the client
Understands and applies engineering, procurement, and construction terminology, concepts, and relationships
Develops and maintains critical path logic networks and bar charts utilizing this information
Customizes project control systems to meet specific project requirements
Schedule all reactive and planned works to appropriate resources, focussing on meeting all work plans within specified timelines
Coordinates and updates schedules with actual progress and forecasts remaining durations, project milestones and completion dates
Prepare and issue schedule analysis narratives and reports including recommendations for corrective actions to be used by project teams to manage the work
Accumulates historical data, such as performance existence, for use in maintaining a realistic basis for future planning and forecasting
Accurately record all job-related information on the appropriate IT systems
May supervise and provide performance reviews for one or more lower-level Project control Engineer/ Specialists and/ or support personnel
Will assign and oversee the work of the Scheduling team and provide guidance and mentoring where required
Review subcontract schedule status and provide management with input on subcontract performance
Prepare schedule risk analysis to forecast contingencies
Promptly resolve issues with specific projects, jobs, clients or workers
Ensure full audit trails are maintained and evidenced where required
Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment that may result in failure of service delivery, or risk to health, safety or environment
Carry out what-if schedule analysis for different options or to assess impacts of certain events
Carry out delay analysis for claims, review and recommend on extension of time claims or requests
Provides input to senior project control staff regarding staffing requirements
Follow all safety and company policies
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate
Preferred Education/ Requirements:
Undergraduate degree in Engineering or Construction Management or related field (or equivalent work experience)
10+years related scheduling experience in complex, large Civil construction projects.
Must be proficient with Primavera P6, and ideally, experience with JD Edwards system
Must have experience developing complex, resource-loaded schedules for civil engineering projects.
Experience with Rail/ LRT construction projects a definite asset.
Skills/ Competencies:
Requires basic engineering knowledge in electrical, mechanical, civil or a related field.
Proficient PC skills, including proficiency in various Project Controls software and MS Office Suite, Primavera P6, Tilos, MS Project
Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities, capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment
Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them
Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to identify problems within existing project controls systems and highlight/ implement solutions
