Scrum Master
PulseMedica, an Edmonton-based start-up, is searching for an experienced Scrum Master to join our world-class team.

Reporting to our Chief Technology Officer, and working across multi-functional teams, this person will be responsible for implementing and promoting the use of agile methodology within the organization.

PulseMedica, recently Great Place to Work certified, is a fast growing ophthalmic medical device company that is determined to reduce ophthalmic disease and disability by offering novel treatment options.

Our platform combines machine-learning, real-time three dimensional eye imaging and high precision laser surgery platform.

Our goal is to revolutionize ophthalmic treatments by providing people with exceptional outcomes and, ultimately, changing the world by preventing blindness and disability resulting from eye diseases.


The Opportunity

The person will be responsible for:

  • Facilitating Agile meetings and events as needed, such as scrum meetings, sprint planning, sprint demo and backlog refinement (with the Product Owner), and retrospective meetings
  • Facilitating team discussions that result in collective decisionmaking, goalsetting, and conflict resolution
  • Using change management methodology in supporting the organization in adopting agile values and developing a growth mindset in order for everyone to adhere to Agile Scrum theory, best practices, and principles
  • Recognizing and resolving team impediments across projects within the organization, in order to improve the effectiveness of Scrum delivery
  • Communicating effectively with a variety of audiences both inside and outside the development team (executives, stakeholders), serving as an advocate for the agile process
  • Assist in leading and ensuring that the "agile mindset" is completely embraced and understood by the organization
  • Identifying issues and implementing solutions in a collaborative manner

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years experience in an Agile environment
  • CPMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) and/or Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM) certification
  • Practical experience using modern agile project management platforms like Jira
  • Strong background in explaining technical challenges to a range of audiences, including top management to aid in decisionmaking (written and verbal)

Requirements:


  • Legally able to work in Canada and be located in or near Edmonton

Duration:
Full time Permanent (40 hours per week)


Salary:
Commensurate to experience and qualifications


Location:
Edmonton (hybrid available: in-office and occasional work-from-home)
