Position Highlights
The Lines & Interconnections team is part of Project Delivery and consists of project managers with a wide variety of
backgrounds and work experience. Our portfolio includes transmission, distribution, telecommunication, protection and
controls, emergency restoration, capacitance, and customer-driven major interconnection projects across the province. The
portfolio includes over 100 active projects including projects in the $100's of millions, driven by growth, sustainment and
external customer needs.

We are looking for two skilled project managers to join our growing Lines and Interconnections team. Team 2 focuses on
customer-driven interconnection projects including line transfers and upcoming power call. Team 4 focuses on transmission
and distribution line relocations, re-furnishments and new builds. As we follow 'One Hydro' approach, project managers may
lead the delivery of all project types, as work loads require.


What you'll do

  • Is the project manager for a portfolio of low risk, medium impact/complexity projects and / or as an assistant project
manager (e.g. managing discrete scope elements) for higher risk/impact/complexity projects and has overall accountability
for the results of those projects. Projects may be internally
- or externally-driven.

  • Responsible to coordinate definition of the project objectives in partnership with the initiator of the Project and other
functional groups and achieve approval of these objectives by the sponsor of the Project. Project objectives will typically be
associated within the areas of scope, schedule, cost, environmental, indigenous relations, stakeholders, properties,
regulatory requirements, and human resources.

  • Leads alternative analyses process with teams and works with initiator of the Project to develop and write business cases.
  • Leads initial development and ongoing updates of the project user requirements and scope documents to make sure that
the elaboration of project scope aligns with the project objectives.

  • Plans with the functional organizations to set up the project team. Leads the project team to prepare and update the
project plan throughout the project lifecycle, including the project work breakdown structure (WBS) and detailed work
packages to deliver the project scope.

  • Is responsible overall for planning and delivery of work packages being completed by Subject Matter Experts.
  • Leads the planning and execution of the project, including obtaining funding approval, achieving conformance with BC
Hydro Project & Portfolio Management (PPM) Practices, and ensuring that the objectives of the project are achieved.

  • Ensures that internal and external resources with appropriate skill sets are provided, assigns work, and provides
instructions, advice and leadership and guidance to project staff; reviews work in progress and assesses completed work
for accuracy, required results and quality assurance.

  • Consults with environmental, indigenous relations, stakeholders, interest groups and the public on a variety of issues of
- importance to the project
  • Represents BC Hydro in discussions and negotiations with regulators and other agencies and helps secure licenses and
regulatory approvals as required.- Develops and oversees the implementation of project-related plans including mitigation and compensation plans.

  • Develops supply chain strategies and establishes commercial arrangements with consultants and contractors, as required.
  • Represents BC Hydro as the 'Contract Owner' or 'Hydro's Representative' on construction, services, and equipment
contracts. Participates in contract and claim negotiations with suppliers and contractors, as required.- Responsible for monitoring and analyzing the project status and performance throughout the project delivery lifecycle and

taking corrective action when required.- Leads the team in proactive risk management and ongoing identification, treatment, and timely communication of project
