Youth Engagement Co-Facilitator - EmpowerMen - Engaging Men and Boys Project


Classification:
Term - until March 31, 2025, part-time (20 hours/week)

Background:

The Youth Engagement Co-Facilitator is responsible for supporting the Youth Engagement Facilitator by building relationships with educators, teachers, social workers in schools and other leaders in the youth work field.

The Co-Facilitator will be part of delivering and evaluating workshops for youth (especially girls, young women, and gender-diverse individuals) to prevent sexual exploitation and empower them to develop healthy relationship skills and increase safety.


SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITY:


  • Conduct outreach and build positive relationships with educators, teachers, social workers in school divisions and schools, colleges, etc.
  • Build relationships with youth group leaders and other professionals working with youth in different settings
  • Facilitate workshops to engage girls and young women in the prevention of sexual exploitation in high schools and youth groups
  • Deliver presentations to educators, parents and other community partners on sexual exploitation, risks and solutions
  • Work together with youth and survivor advisory committees and educators to stay up to date on current trends

Qualifications:


  • Degree in education, youth work, social work or similar field
  • Minimum of three (3) years in high school education, social work in a school or youth serving setting, youth support services, or related field
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to build and maintain positive relationships with youth (grade 9 to 12) and with partners in the education field

  • Outstanding skills to engage young people through conversation and creative activities
  • Knowledge of youth development (social, emotional, mental, relational) and the challenges that young people face
  • Being comfortable to discuss sensitive topics such as relationships, sexuality (pornography, consent, abuse), power and privilege etc. in a positive and empowering way with young people
  • Knowledge about online risks for exploitation and asset
  • Demonstrates ability to organize a busy schedule, follow through on all tasks as assigned and meet deadlines
  • Approachable, flexible, outgoing and nonjudgmental towards young people
  • Possesses a strong work ethic.
  • Driver's License and access to vehicle
  • Ability to work occasionally in the evening and on weekends
  • Supports Indigenous values; has knowledge of Indigenous cultures
