Responsible to and under the general supervision of the Senior Operations Manager and Operations Manager, the Bartender is responsible for carrying out the procedures necessary to maintain a high standard of customer service, cleanliness and order in the bar.


ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides service to Servers and customers by dispensing food and beverage items.
  • Responsible for handling cash for the products sold, and for the bar and debit floats.
  • Opens and closes the bar counts floats and sales at the end of each shift, and upon closing.
  • Cleanliness of all areas, supplies and equipment, with particular attention to areas used by customers including bar counters and seating, tables and chairs and surrounding floor surfaces.
  • Receives orders from suppliers, rotating stock as required in storage areas. Restocks kegs, backbar beer coolers and all alcohol products, serving supplies and condiments at the end of each shift.
  • Supervision of staff, with particular attention to close monitoring of Servers to ensure that customers consistently receive a high level of customer service offered with a positive attitude in accordance with Students' Union policies.
  • Training parttime staff in a manner consistent with maintaining a high standard of customer service and effective operation of the room.
  • To enforce the AGLC Liquor Control Act, the Capital Health Authority Act, U of A and Students' Union regulations and policies.
  • Other jobrelated duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum Alberta Grade 12, or equivalent.
  • Experienced preferred but not necessary; will train.
  • Excellent work habits, personal hygiene, professional appearance and dress in accordance with Students' Union policy.
  • Good physical condition and the ability to handle full beer kegs.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all customers and Students' Union staff while presenting a friendly, respectful and diplomatic attitude.
  • Must have ProServe certification.
