Job Summary:


The Wastewater Collections Stations Summer Student will work as a member of a crew and perform general maintenance around Halton Region's facilities.


  • Legally entitled to work in Canada as a student.
  • In possession of a Social Insurance Number (card) at time of hire.
  • Currently enrolled in a postsecondary educational institution on a fulltime basis and returning to school in the fall of 2023.

Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Clean and maintain public grounds including landscaping of the Region and other areas, working as a member of a crew.
  • Collect field data and organize all data sources including maps, asbuilt drawings, manuals and electronic files.
  • Sweep/remove debris from streets, sidewalks, walkways, building grounds and other areas.
  • Wash and/or paint walls, windows and other structures/surfaces.
  • Install/relocate fences, conduct traffic control.
  • Relocate, replenish and monitor material/products/supplies at and/or between job sites.
  • Dig ditches and trenches using shovels and other hand tools.
  • Load and unload trucks with supplies and equipment.
  • Assist Water and Wastewater operators to secure attachments to equipment or trucks.
  • Assist in routine maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications:


Essential

  • Enrolled at a recognized college or university in an Environmental related program.
  • Strong technical aptitude and an interest in gaining experience in Wastewater operations.
  • Customerfocused and wellorganized in order to meet the needs of our diverse client group.

  • The incumbent must provide a copy of their Ontario G class driver's license and an acceptable driver's abstract by their first day of employment.
