About the Role


We are seeking a
Social Worker - Intake/Poverty Reduction Counselling **to respond to community and client calls providing information, referrals, assessments, crisis intervention and counselling.


Responsibilities:


  • Understand clients' needs, answer questions about services offered, review program materials with clients and/or their family members and make decisions on treatment.
  • Complete assessments, conduct crisis intervention, and provide brief telephone and facetoface counselling as required.
  • Facilitate coordination of services which includes the provision of information, advocacy and referral to both agency and outside resources.
  • Provide direct service to individuals, families, and groups in the form of counselling, crisis, intervention, therapy, advocacy, and coordination of resources.
  • Interview clients individually, in families, or in groups, to assess their situation and problems to determine types and range of services required.
  • Assist clients fill out multiple forms, outline clients' reasons for seeking treatment, and review history of past treatment efforts.
  • Assist clients with their financial plans, basic budgeting and completion of government forms and provide enhanced Supplementary Financial Assistance Program assessments.
  • Refer clients to external agencies that provide services such as financial assistance, legal aid, housing, medical treatment, etc. as appropriate for client needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • Master of Social Work
  • Registered member of OCSWSSW and in good standing.
  • Minimum 3 years clinical or related experience required.
  • Experience in assessment and delivering clinical service.
  • Fluency in Hebrew and/or Russian is an asset.
  • Comprehension of French or another language is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Matrix, CPIN and other data management systems is a strong asset.
  • Knowledge and/or expertise in specific clinical therapeutic interventions such as single session, brief therapy, CBT, and/or group psychotherapy is an asset.
  • Understanding of adult mental health and how it manifests in client situations.
  • Working knowledge of the Child & Family Services Act in Ontario
