The Activities Co-Ordinator is responsible for developing and coordinating meaningful programs and services to meet the social, physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual needs of all residents.


This Position is a Part time position to start as soon as possible and then transitions into a Temporary Full time position covering a maternity leave in April 2023.

Part time hours consist of 20 hours/per week and Full time hours consist of 31.25 hours per week.

As an Activities Co-Ordinator you are responsible for:

  • Develops and prepares communication tools (newsletters, posters, notices and calendars) designed to provide residents, seniors located in the community and volunteers with information regarding current and future activities and special events.
  • Identifying and assessing the residents needs to develop fulfilling activities and encouraging residents' participation in programs.
  • Coordinates Resident Forum as delegated by the General Manager.
  • Creates a safe, pleasant, creative recreational environment.
  • Plans evening and weekend programs/activities as required
  • Recruits, orients, supervises, recognizes and evaluates volunteers
  • Responsible for driving residents for weekly outings and special events
  • Liaise with external agencies and individuals from seniors focused organizations, clubs, associations, and community groups to plan and deliver special events, outings and coordinate services
  • Forecasts, monitors, and manages expenditures from funds allocated to the budget
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
  • A minimum of 13 years' experience ideally in a retirement or LTC setting
  • Diploma or Degree in Recreational Leadership Program/Therapeutic Recreation and or Recreation Management in Gerontology
  • Valid First Aid/CPR Certificate
  • Valid Drivers license and demonstrate license in good standing, 3 years public driving experience, must be 25 years or older in order to be eligible for coverage under our insurance policy
  • Must provide a clear Drivers Abstract
  • Must possess an understanding of the challenges of the aging process
  • Good planning, public relations, customer service and multitasking skills
  • Must express initiative, good judgment and foster a positive work atmosphere.
  • Food handler/Food Safe certification considered an asset
  • Must be comfortable and prepared to respond to emergency situations
  • Must possess strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook.
  • All applicants must successfully provide a current (within 6 months) Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Proof of 2 step TB testing
  • Proof of full COVID vaccination
