Position Title:
Specialist, Risk Control (bilingual)


Location:
Montreal, Quebec (métro Place des Arts) or in a Domtar/Resolute Forest Products mill - may require travel to a Domtar/Resolute Forest Products mill at times


Upper hierarchy:
Director, Risk Management and Insurance


Reporting to the Director, Risk Management and Insurance, the Specialist, Risk Control will collaborate with the various business units and support plant managers and their teams (mainly in the province of Quebec) in pursuing efforts of the organization in terms of risk control/loss prevention (property and liability).


Main responsabilities:


  • Work closely with the Director, Asset Optimization, to support mills and help them implement loss prevention recommendations or find alternatives to resolve deficiencies.
  • Attend loss prevention visits with insurers to understand risk exposures (at least 2 visits/month).
  • Reviewing insurers' engineering reports and commenting where necessary involves regular interaction with insurers' engineers to evaluate and suggest ways to reduce or eliminate risks.
  • Advocate with insurers in favor of mills efforts regarding risk prevention and mitigation.
  • Ensure monitoring of and followup on insurers' loss control activities.
  • Produce reports on the status of recommendations and identify trends, among other things.
  • Collaborate in managing property claims to conclusion and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Attend and participate in organization property damage claims meetings.

Professional Experience/Qualifications

  • Technical diploma in fire prevention or certificate of college studies (AEC) in damage insurance or certification in a related field
  • Experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment
  • 23 years of relevant experience with a direct damage insurer or broker
  • Knowledge of mechanical and hazard control systems (e.g. sprinkler systems, fire detection systems, etc.) is an asset as well as experience with building codes, fire services, construction and 'interview.
  • Experience in identifying and controlling hazards, either as part of professional tasks or as part of a safety committee.
  • Strong ability to read, write and speak English and
    French required.
  • You must successfully complete a selection process which includes interviews, aptitude tests (depending on the position) and taking references._
