Vanguard, a global leader in investment management, is seeking an accomplished and visionary Head of Distribution to develop and lead all B2B distribution strategies and activities in Canada.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a proven sales leader to drive sales growth and market share in Canada's investment landscape, focusing on intermediary investment and institutional retirement clients.

As a key member of our Canadian leadership team, you will play a crucial role in further enhancing Vanguard's reputation for delivering exceptional value, unparalleled client service, and innovative investment solutions.


Core Responsibilities

  • Builds and leads a high performing team. Provides guidance, training, and motivation as necessary to develop crew. Sets performance standards, reviews performance, provides coaching and feedback and makes informed compensation decisions in accordance with the applicable HR policies and procedures. Administers disciplinary action when needed in accordance with Vanguard HR policies.
  • Collaborates well with executive leaders to formulate longterm growth strategies for the B2B business. Develops the strategic objectives and plan for distribution, and ensures that all objectives, strategies, and actions are implemented, achieved, and reported to increase assets under management and produce a scaling and profitable business. Identifies competitive threats and opportunities and formulates appropriate response plans. Ensures direct reports understand and carry out the strategy.
  • Establishes specific sales and retention goals for all manager and crew activities. Provides leadership and coaching to the team to achieve the highest levels of performance.
  • Drives crossfunctional collaboration with Marketing, Product, Strategy, and the global organization to ensure maximum leverage of capabilities and alignment of efforts to produce sales outcomes.
  • Drives operational and fiscal discipline. Ensures organizational design, operating models, measurement frameworks and use of technology are optimized, and continue to evolve to meet changing business needs. Manages budget and responsible for achieving revenue and profitability targets. Manages risks to established tolerances.
  • Fosters strong relationships with senior and executive management at the largest and most complex prospect and client organizations throughout the country. Utilizes expertise of market and competitive environments to position Vanguard products and services successfully.
  • Constantly improves service model based on a deep and continuous understanding of the market, competition, regulatory considerations, best practices, and Vanguard capabilities. Maintains high NPS.
  • Represent Vanguard at industry events, conferences, and other networking opportunities, showcasing our commitment to delivering superior investment performance, client service, and thought leadership.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.
  • Eight to ten years financial services experience with at least five years in a senior level client or prospect relationship role. Three to five years of successful adviser sales experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the Canadian investment landscape, including regulatory requirements, competitive landscape, and market trends.
  • Proven ability to think and perform strategically, bringing innovative solutions to complex client or prospect situations.
  • Exceptional leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills. Excellent analytical skills, problem solving, verbal and written communication.
  • Proven ability to successfully develop strong working relationships
  • Proven experience in coaching and developing a team.
  • Excellent executive presence, poise, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of all MS Office software. Understanding of CRM systems.
  • CFA preferred.
