Your Opportunity:


Reporting to the Manager, the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Assistant works with the multidisciplinary team to provide outreach support services to neurodiverse children and their families for the COAST Kids Outreach program.

The program operates using a patient and family centered care model as well as trauma informed care. Support services are delivered on an outreach basis and the PSRA is required to be independent and autonomous.


Description:


The Psychosocial Rehab Assistant (PSRA) works with a multidisciplinary team assisting with therapeutic programming within an in-patient or day treatment Mental Health program.

Under the guidance of Registered Nurses and Family Counselors, the Psychosocial Rehab Assistant also supports the implementation of individual and group program plans for children and adolescents admitted to the mental health care unit.

Knowledge and understanding of child and adolescent development, and therapeutic interventions is essential to optimal patient care.

This specific PSRA opportunity involves offering therapeutic support to patients who may be holding in Emergency Department or who are placed 'off service' in medical units throughout the hospital.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of diploma in Social Work or Child and Youth Care or completion of Bachelor's Degree in Psychology.


Additional Required Qualifications:

1-2 years previous experience in mental health, specifically with neurodiverse populations (Autism, learning disabilities, FASD etc). Proven experience working with a multidisciplinary team to further client treatment goals.


Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of mental health and community resources related to neurodiverse children and families. Experience providing mental health services independently and efficiently in the context of a multidisciplinary team. Brain Story Certification. Understanding of trauma informed care, collaborative problem solving, attachment and child development. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification.
