ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE


Under the direction of the Environmental Services Manager is responsible for safety and security of the residence during the night and for responding to calls for assistance from residents and conduct safety checks.

Responsible for minor housekeeping duties in the common areas and responding to maintenance situations such as plugged toilets, light bulbs, etc.


BACKGROUND/QUALIFICATIONS
Incumbent must be a High School Graduate. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions in the English language. Needs visual acuity to ensure cleaning tasks are performed to standards. Must be physically able to perform the duties and withstand long periods of standing. Experience in a long-term care or retirement home setting in a housekeeping department will be given preference. Certification in Level 1 Basic First Aid, Knowledge of WHMIS, and have Covid-19 Vaccinations.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participates in, and contributes to, the Verve Quality Improvement (VQI) program.
  • Performs duties with an exemplary standard of skill and with a sense of responsibility
  • Ensures security of the residence and the residents during night shift
  • Responds to resident calls, giving assistance where appropriate and contacting professional help when necessary
  • Maintains cleanliness of all common areas of residence
  • Studies floor plan layouts, fire manual and emergency plans and demonstrates familiarity with all phases of the alert system
  • Ensures effective team communication within the residence, logs any concerns regarding resident incidents in Communication Book
  • Handles all matters in a confidential manner
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Environmental Services Manager or General Manager.
  • Complies with all corporate policies and procedures.
  • Completes all required mandatory training/education.
  • Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System. This includes recognizing health and safety hazards, reporting incidents, fulfilling responsibilities under the applicable legislation, as well as participating in inservices and fire drills.

Additional Qualifications


Education:


  • Certification in Level 1 Basic First Aid is required
