Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies (FSWC) is a non-profit human rights organization committed to countering racism and antisemitism and to promoting the principles of tolerance, social justice and Canadian democratic values through advocacy and education.


The opportunity:

FSWC seeks an experienced Full-time Accounting Assistant to join the finance department to assist with administrative tasks.

As an Accounting Assistant, you will report to the Finance Manager and provide support such as (but not limited to) accounts payable and receivables, generating reports, processing credit card statements, and any additional administrative supporting tasks required.

You will:


  • Manage Accounts Payable and Receivable, including assisting with invoices and donations.
  • Data entry, including inputting financial transactions into accounting software, and ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
  • Conduct reconciliation of bank statements, credit card statements, and restricted funds accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies or errors.
  • Assist in processing employee expense reports accurately and efficiently.
  • Generate basic financial reports as needed for monthend and financial reporting.
  • Undertake the significant task of processing credit card expense statements.
  • Scan and file all financial documents systematically for easy retrieval and recordkeeping.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors, donors, and internal stakeholders regarding financial transactions.
  • Undertake any additional related tasks as required within the department.

You are someone with:


  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
  • Experience with DonorPerfect is preferable.
  • A strong eye for detail; ability to prioritize and manage time as needed.
  • Solid communication skills and the ability to work as a team.
  • Tech proficiency: Proficient in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and comfortable with using office equipment.
  • Confidentiality: Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fastpaced environment.

What you bring:


  • Minimum of 12 year's of accounting experience in a similar financial or accounting role.
  • Proven experience in an accounting support role, preferably within the nonprofit sector.
  • Minimum high school diploma; postsecondary education in accounting or office administration is considered an asset.
  • Detailoriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Knowledge of the accounting cycle for a nonprofit organization (NPO).
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online.
