    Job Description

    ​​We are seeking a visionary Director of IT Architecture to join our innovative group. This strategic role is designed for a dynamic individual who will bring a forward-thinking approach to emerging technologies and architectural frameworks, ensuring robust, scalable, and secure IT solutions across the broader group. This role will report to the Senior Director, Innovation, Digital, Expertise and Architecture (IDEA) within the Global Functions Technology (GFT) organization in Technology & Operations, with a dotted line relationship to the GFT Chief Architect and to the Senior Director, IDEA Innovation Technology. ​
  • ​​Lead the architecture domain within theIDEA team, setting its architectural strategic direction and priorities, aligned to GFT and T&O overall direction.
  • ​Design end-to-end Generative AI solutions tailored to specific financial services use cases. Define data requirements, model architecture, training pipelines, and integration with existing systems utilizingstate-of-the-art techniques
  • ​Implement augmentation and data preprocessing techniques to ensure high-quality and diverse data for training Generative AI models.
  • ​Assess potential risks associated with Generative AI solutions, such as biases in data or model outputs, and implement risk mitigation strategies to ensure transparency, fairness and reliability.
  • ​Develop and implement architectural strategies supporting the business goals, focusing on innovation and operational efficiency.
  • ​Work with other T&O teams to integrate Generative AI solutions seamlessly into existing systems, ensuring efficient data flows and model deployments.
  • ​Champion the adoption of emerging technologies to enhance business functions and mitigate risks.
  • ​Provide expert counsel and thought leadership to leaders on how to maximize the investment on technology by partnering with internal lines of business to identify KPIs, creating a business case, and effectively communicate with executive leadership teams.
  • ​Oversee the integration of risk management priorities into IT architectures, ensuring all platforms adhere to compliance and security standards.
  • ​Collaborate with all the GFT pillars and their stakeholdersto forecast technology trends and assess potential impactin terms of opportunities and threats.
  • ​Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies that may benefit or threaten the organization's operations.
  • ​Evaluate and pilot cutting-edge technologies to assess their potential application within various business areas.
  • ​Document the Generative AI and other Emerging Technologies architecture, design decisions, and implementation details for knowledge sharing across GFT and T&O. Provide training to technical teams and professionals on concepts and applications.​
  • Must have:

  • ​​Real world experience with building generative AI solutions - ideally within the financial industry - with commercial and open-source Large Language Models, embeddings, vector databases, and orchestration.
  • ​Experience with content, collaborationand digital adoption platformssuch asOpenText TeamSite, Jive, WalkMe, Apty, Podbean, TemboSocial, Workplace by Meta, Microsoft Cognitive Services, LucidWorks Fusion, MaaS360, Neo4J, and/or other platforms similar in scope.
  • ​8+ years of Solution Architecture/Tech Lead proven experience in IT development within a large-scale, complex environment, preferably in the financial services industry.
  • ​Proven leadership and collaboration skills with an ability to achieve common organizational goals.
  • ​Strong problem solving, communication and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities and have strong attention to detail; strong verbal and written communication skills including presentation skills suitable for executive leadership teams
  • ​Comprehensive knowledge of operating systems (including Windows, Linux, MacOS), programming languages (such as C#, Java, JavaScript, Python), database technologies, cloud hosting platforms, mobile development, and DevOps tools.
  • ​Strong understanding of compliance regulations and security standards relevant to the financial industry.
  • ​Demonstrated ability in leading a team through large-scale IT projects and transitions.​
  • Nice-to-have :

  • Strong knowledge of RBC's Business and Functional Units' processes and applications
  • Experience in development and/or implementation of business strategy within the Finance industry
  • Ability to work in a team and matrix environment.
  • Proven ability to drive results, multitask, and quickly shift focus
