Position Summary


This position will support the Corporate Finance team with fiscal year end tasks relating to the annual audit, provide coverage for team member vacations, helping with weekly Accounts Payable and bank/visa reconciliations, and assist with tasks relating to the implementation of MEDA's new ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system.

  • Location: Waterloo, ON / Hybrid / Remotework*
  • This opportunity is contingent upon approval by the 2023 Canada Summer Jobs Program which is an initiative of the Government of Canada's Summer Work Experience Program. It is designed to focus on local priorities, while helping young Canadians and their communities. It provides funding to organizations to create summer job opportunities for youth aged 15 to 30 years. Please review eligibility requirements and ensure you meet all the criteria prior to applying.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Annual Audit preparation: sourcing key audit documents, collating information required by the auditor, scheduling internal finance team meetings as requested by the auditor.
  • Ensure invoices submitted for payment include the appropriate authorizations and account codes, upload information into the accounting system as required, reconcile vendor accounts when queries are received.
  • Prepare monthly corporate credit card statements, following up with employees for appropriate supporting documents.
  • Reconcile monthly bank statements as required.
  • Assist with data integration for MEDA's new ERP, schedule various meetings and training sessions for MEDA's global finance team, and support system implementation as required, work with international finance staff as MEDA's systems aim to provide more transparency and accountability outside of N/America.
  • Ad hoc filing and/or disposal of MEDA project supporting documents according to MEDA's retention of information policies and donor requirements.

REQUIREMENTS

Education:


  • Enrolled in or recent graduate of a program in commerce, administration, financial information systems or a related field.

Canada Summer Jobs Requirements:


  • Be between 1530 years of age at the start of the employment;
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (international students with work visas are not eligible); and,
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations

Additional Qualifications:

  • Proficiency working in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint and Teams
