Position:
Program Coordinator


35 hours per week - $30 per hour


The Lower Mainland Purpose Society, in partnership with the City of Burnaby and Public Safety Canada, is currently in search of a Temporary Full-Time Program Coordinator for the Burnaby Youth Hub through the Building Safer Communities Fund.

This position is contracted until March 31, 2025.


The program aims to support youth who may be involved in or at-risk of gang or gun-related activities in the community through prevention and intervention strategies.

By addressing the sources of youth violence, this initiative aims to empower young people and the community to create and implement solutions while maintaining public safety.


JOB DESCRIPTION:


  • Develop and implement evidencebased youth gang prevention and intervention strategies, including mentoring, life skills development, and mental health support.
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings and events to engage youth and community members in discussions about youth gang prevention and intervention strategies.
  • Provide case management and coordination of services for youth.
  • Maintain accurate and uptodate records of youth's progress.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on program progress and statistics for funders and community stakeholders.
  • Supervise and train program volunteers.
  • Facilitate support groups and other therapeutic activities.
  • Work collaboratively with community agencies and organizations in a coordinated practice model.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Master's Degree in social work, psychology, counselling, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in the field of youth and family services. Familiarity with the criminal justice system is an asset.
  • Experience providing evidenceinformed mental health services (i.e., traumainformed, attachmentbased, motivational, and cognitive therapies).
  • Knowledge about community resources and networks, including services in Burnaby.
  • Welldeveloped interpersonal, conflict resolution, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Valid First Aid/CPR; completion of required crisis intervention and suicide prevention training is an asset.
  • Class 5 driver's license and vehicle required.
  • Experience facilitating workshops.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a criminal record clearance working with vulnerable populations.
  • Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings.
