Purchaser, Greenfield, Nova Scotia
We are currently looking for a full time Purchaser to join our Freeman Lumber Team.

This role reports directly to the Sawmill Superintendent and will be responsible for managing the daily transactions between Freeman Lumber and its suppliers.


In addition, this position is responsible for:

  • Providing timely and accurate procurement support
  • Coordinating with departments to define procurement requirements
  • Reviewing quotes from suppliers
  • Monitoring supplier performance
  • Monitoring contracts ensuring terms and conditions are maximized and fulfilled
  • Researching potential new suppliers based on need
  • Preparing purchase orders for approval
  • Negotiating with suppliers timely delivery and cost
  • Reviewing status reports and initiate appropriate action as required
  • Maintaining complete and accurate file records
  • Performing all other duties as assigned

Skills/Abilities:


  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Strong organization skills; ability to accomplish multiple tasks through prioritization of duties in a fast pace environment
  • Team player but still motivated to complete tasks independently as required
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Programs and Interal Purchasing Software
  • Work with mínimal supervision
  • Must be physically capable of bending, reaching, and lifting
  • Availability to work 45 hrs per week, additional time maybe required to ensure inventory is readily available to maintain mill processes/production

Qualifications:


  • Minimum high school diploma
  • Three (3) plus years of purchasing related work experience
  • Experience in business administration, finance, or analytics would be an asset
