$127,054 - $151,251

  • Qualifications
  • Post Secondary degree or diploma in a related field (e.g. P.Engineering, civil, mechanical, electrical or environmental, Technologist) and/or
PMP certification is considered an asset

  • A minimum of 7 years of designbuild/construction/design development project management experience; or displays high capability and
drive to learn and develop the necessary skills to excel in this role.

  • A minimum of 5 years progressive management experience, including strategic planning, prioritizing, budgeting (operational and capital) and
risk management capabilities. Experience managing a substantial facility services team would be an asset.

  • Thorough knowledge of consultant and construction contracts and public sector tendering policies and procedures including relevant
government legislation and regulations.

  • Demonstrated leadership, vision, and people management skills in order to ensure the highest standard of service delivery.
  • Experience operating and managing in a unionized work environment.
  • Proven interpersonal, oral, and written communications as well as presentation skills and can maintain good public relations, both within and
outside the Board.

  • Ability to facilitate group discussion and gain consensus, including working with diverse groups at all levels within the organization and within
the community.

  • Demonstrated team building, problemsolving, negotiating, conflict resolution and decisionmaking skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of current building maintenance practices and management systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with design, project management and construction processes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of sustainability, relevant building, and fire codes, AODA as well as Occupational Health and Safety Act and
associated regulations.

  • Requires knowledge and skill in the use of computers for projects such as spreadsheets, word processing.
  • Ability to obtain a vulnerable sector check.
  • A valid Ontario driver's license and access to a vehicle due to travel required.

Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Superintendent of Business, the Manager of Plant & Maintenance provides strategic direction and

leadership in a multi-faceted organization to unionized and non-unionized staff who deliver direct services to all Board

facilities in the areas of custodial services, maintenance services, design and construction services, sustainability, environmental

and energy management, as well as facility security.

Manager of Plant, Maintenance & Capital Projects is responsible for the planning, organizing, directing and controlling the

activities and functions of the Plant & Maintenance department staff in the provision of operations, maintenance and

construction for all buildings and grounds owned by the board. The Manager is also responsible for ensuring our buildings are

warm, safe and dry through compliance with the building, fire and health safety codes.

The Manager of Plant & Maintenance is responsible for supervision and administration of all capital building projects,

preparation, monitoring and controlling budgets, planning, coordinating and supervising the annual Property Improvement

Projects, managing response to major concerns within our school facilities and project planning and necessary paperwork.

  • Assists the Superintendent of Business in the Boardwide strategic planning process, including identifying site/area specific
strategic issues; developing appropriate action plans to address identified issues and establishing target dates for resolution.
