- Align Visitor Services programming with Corporate and Departmental Strategic Plans:
- Provide day-to-day supervision and direction to employees involved in the operational aspects of visitor services programing to ensure a high-quality public experience.
- Facilitate visitor services and programs by working closely and proactively with other RDCO functions, partners, special interest groups and stakeholders.
- Oversee and develop contracts to ensure services are efficient and cost-effective.
- Coordinate resources to ensure programs are developed and delivered effectively and in accordance with the plan.
- Promote and advance the development & delivery of programs and services that increase opportunities for individuals with disabilities and or financial barriers to access parks.
- Educate the public and ensures public enquiries are resolved completely in all matters:
- Support staff to respond to public enquiries, complaints, and service concerns in a courteous and timely manner.
- Advise on the interpretation and application of the Regional and Community Parks Regulatory Bylaws.
- Undertake general administration associated with Visitor Services:
- Provide input for annual budgets and multi year plans.
- Supervise park bookings and park permitting processes.
- Review and approve purchase orders and accounts payable invoices within policy limits.
- Review and approve payroll time sheets and holiday requests.
- Mentorship:
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Support the training, coordination and scheduling of staff and creation of programming and events.
- Support visitor service employees in a mentorship capacity, supporting skill development, expanding perspectives, offering feedback, and providing access to tools and contacts.
- Other related duties as assigned.
As the ideal candidate, you will have: - A Diploma in parks/recreation administration, education, community relations or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- 3 years of supervisory experience.
- Excellent motivation, team building, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of leadership and management principles, administration, finance and budget processes.
- Demonstrated partnering skills, including collaboratively working with all stakeholders, public, elected officials, staff, and user groups.
- Excellent understanding of the nature of regional government programs, politics, related regulations and acts and service delivery model.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation skills
- Excellent judgement and decision making, organization, prioritization, time management skills
- Tact, diplomacy and excellent ability to de-escalate conflict
- Strong computer skills, including MS office and database

This is an exempt position that has a salary range of $89,000 - $98,900 - $108,800. It is the RDCO's philosophy to pay in the middle of the range for a fully qualified applicant.
