Safety Coordinator

VanMar Constructors is searching for a dedicated Safety Coordinator who embodies a proactive and hands-on approach to uphold the success of our safety program for a project in the Burnaby/Vancouver area.

You will be accountable for ensuring on-site trades comply with WorkSafe's OHSR, minimizing injuries and accidents.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review trades' safety documentation to ensure comprehensive implementation on site
  • Manage Safety Document Checklists, follow up on missing items, file received documents
  • Orientate new workers to the site
  • Collect and review Daily Hazard Assessments
  • Update and maintain daily mancount
  • Perform and record daily site inspections for WorkSafe Regulations compliance
  • Conduct site safety/toolbox meetings
  • Respond to First Aid calls, handle walk-in patients, and file reports
  • Conduct risk assessments and enforce preventative measures continuously
  • Maintain workers' necessary qualifications and certifications on site
  • Generate monthly reports on first aid incidents and safety infractions
  • Other duties as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum Level 2 Occupational First Aid Training
  • Completed Construction Safety Officer Training (an asset)
  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written)
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration at all levels
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities

  • Has a solid understanding of WorkSafe's Regulations and can assess work-related risks
  • Can contribute to action plans and corrective measures
  • Develops, reviews, and updates safe job procedures
  • Can prepare weekly safety crew talks

Compensation:

VanMar offers competitive benefits and compensation based on industry experience.

Salary:

$32.00-$42.00 per hour
