ABOUT US:


Located on the shores of Stave Lake in Mission, BC, just one hour east of Vancouver, Zajac Ranch for Children is situated on 41 acres of pristine forested land.

During the summer months, Zajac Ranch provides camps for children and young adults with chronic, life-threatening and/or debilitating conditions. In the off-season, Zajac Ranch welcomes school groups and private rentals. Revenue raised from site rentals goes to supporting Zajac Ranch for Children medical summer camps.


Position:
Full time


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Daily care and wellbeing of the horses in feeding, stall cleaning, grooming, exercising and first aid/treatment of minor illness or injury
  • Daily care of petting zoo animals; i.e. goats, sheep, chickens, etc.
  • Oversee the cleaning and maintenance of the tack, stable, corral and turnout
  • Train and supervise barn staff and volunteers
  • Order supplies & feed
  • Maintain daily logs for each horse to monitor their daily routines and behaviors
  • Oversee farrier scheduling & visits
  • Daily health checks on all animals
  • Facilitate the equestrian and riding program for rental guests and campers (seasonal)
  • Required to oversee and perform the necessary safety protocols to ensure the highest level of safe fun while participating in the activity
  • All other duties deemed necessary by the Zajac Ranch

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Experience in and knowledge of equine care required
  • Previous experience working with children preferred
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Diligent, reliable and good communication skills
  • Leadership qualities
  • Must have own transportation and possess a valid driver's license
  • Possess and maintain a clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
  • Fully Vaccinated

Salary:
From $25.00 per hour


Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Mission, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
