Job Description:

The Human Resources Department is currently looking for a summer student to join the Office of the Vice-President of Human Resources.

The incumbent will support the Executive Assistant to the Vice-President of Human Resources with various tasks and functions associated with Employee Records Management Project, Employee Recognition Events and other tasks within the Vice-President's Office.

Moreover, the incumbent will also support various projects within the broader Human Resources team as required.

These include, but are not limited to, work on reviewing and updating Job Classification, Job Titles, and Job Descriptions, performing HR process mapping, assistance with HR reporting and electronic file clean-up as well as auditing HR files for consistency and retrieving missing information.


Requirements for this position include:

  • Currently studying at Algonquin College within the Business Administration, Human Resources, Library and Information Technician program, or other related field;
  • This position is funded through the College Student Employment Program (CSEP). Applicants must be eligible for CSEP.
  • You must be currently enrolled in a fulltime program.

The following students are not eligible:
Second Career, Apprenticeship Programs, International students, Algonquin College employees paying a reduced tuition, Collaborative programs with the University of Ottawa or Carleton University and all programs that are not Ministry-approved;-For more information on CSEP:
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.7 or greater;
  • Demonstrated self
  • started and ability to adapt quickly to a demanding, fast
  • paced environment;
  • Strong technical skills;
  • Proficient communication skills (oral and written);
  • A proven ability to exercise a high level of confidentiality, discretion, diplomacy, and sound judgement pertaining to access to private and secure information;
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Previous work experience in an office environment would be considered an asset;
  • Previous work experience in Human Resources would also be considered an asset;
  • All work performed by students becomes the property of Algonquin College.
  • Please note the student payrate is fixed at $16.55 per hour.
This position requires regular on-site work at Algonquin College's Woodroffe (Ottawa) Campus.
