    OR Data and Utilization Coordinator – Operating Room

    The coordinator will ensure full utilization and data integrity of surgical services while providing quality control and process improvement for operating procedures across all sites of Mackenzie Health Perioperative Services. The coordinator will provide operational reports, routine and ad hoc, as well as case costing analysis based on OR utilization. The OR Data and Utilization Coordinator will provide guidance and direction regarding day-to-day data activities for the OR clerical and clinical staff. The OR Data and Utilization Coordinator will act as a liaison between physicians/ physician offices and the operating room. Works with the surgical leadership team to create, analyze and interpret data and information obtained through the surgical management system and other IT systems related to the daily operations of the Operating Rooms.

    What must you have?

  • Current membership in good standing with a regulated Health Professional College
  • Minimum of 3 years recent experience working in an operating room setting.
  • Advanced working knowledge of EPIC EMR
  • What else do you bring?

  • Excellent needs assessment, analytical, problem-solving and documentation skills.
  • Excellent ability to create, generate and educate others on reports from within this portfolio.
  • Superb expertise within report writing programs such as Krystal, Tableau, Excel and other relevant programs
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects critical to the organization.
  • Ability to promote and manage change.
  • Ability to educate, support and mentor efficiency improvements in clinical processes and clinical documentation
  • Strong oral communication, critical thinking, job task planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to plan and manage time effectively.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Self-directed, motivated self-starter. Advanced Knowledge of EPIC and/or other peri-operative IT systems.
  • Proven attendance record.

  • Preferably, your profile also includes:

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Clinical Informatics
  • Master's degree in clinical informatics or other relevant degree
  • Minimum 5 years recent and relevant experience as a nurse in peri-operative services
  • Previous project management experience and participation in process improvement and quality improvement events
  • Working experience with clinical documentation and reporting systems
