    Job Summary

    Reporting through the Joint Fire Communications Centre (JFCC) Manager to the Assistant Chief, Operations and Communications, is responsible for program development, analysis, maintenance and enhancements to the department computer aided dispatch (CAD) system, office systems and programs, radio system component data and tracking. Assists in future planning for the Communications Centre's needs and assesses systems relating to emergency communications. Provides CAD statistical and other reports as required. Prepares and submits required data to the Office of the Fire Marshal of Ontario.

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plans and implements new programs as directed.
  • Provides and arranges necessary repairs for computer, office and radio systems.
  • Implements and maintains programs, inventory of equipment, entering new data or modifications to existing data in the computer aided dispatching system, upgrading emergency maps and represents the department on the Region of Peel Street Names Committee.
  • Evaluates new technology and changes in the related fields and will assess future department needs and recommend appropriate direction.
  • Assists in training and development of staff in related areas through courses and workshops.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Skills and Qualifications

  • Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with a degree or diploma in Electronics, Computer Science, or Engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience in disciplines relating to computers, computer networks, office systems, electronics and radio systems. Previous experience with Emergency Services Computer Aided Dispatch systems a definite asset.
  • Basic drafting is preferred.
  • Must possess a valid Ontario Drivers licence, a satisfactory driving record and access to transportation.
  • Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 100,304 - $ 125,380
