Job Duties:
- Identify and develop relationships with suppliers and manufacturers in Asia
- Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers and other partners
- Manage the logistics of importing goods from overseas, including customs clearance and transportation
- Coordinate the movement of goods and materials from suppliers to manufacturers and from manufacturers to customers
- Ensure that the purchased goods meet the organization's quality standards and are delivered on time
- Analyze category specific needs and action into developments that are within budget
- Develop and implement strategies to reduce costs and improve the efficiency of the supply chain
- Stay up to date with industry trends and development to meet the changing needs of market
- Track development KPIs on number of seasonal developments
- Identify and manage risks within the supply chain
- Assist and ensure development is flowing within calendar timelines
- Lead, mentor, support and develop the purchasing team
- Recruit, onboard and train new teammates
Key Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- 5+ years of experience in a purchasing management level role
- Experience in supply chain management and a strong understanding of logistics and transportation
- Extended work experience of being an international buyer or in import and export business is strongly preferred and will be prioritized
- Related knowledge (e.g. industrial materials, tools, equipment and etc.,) or experience with industrial supply materials is an asset
- Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and customs procedures related to global sourcing
- Familiarity with international logistics process and capable to handle the import process
- Experience in working with suppliers and partners in Asia is highly desirable
- Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment with strong ability to multitask and prioritize tasks
- Advanced English oral and written communication skills
- Fluency in Mandarin is an asset
- Business trips to Asia as required
- This position may require working standard hours aligned with customer's time zone
- Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite, SAP)
