To be eligible to apply for a co-op student position, you must meet the following criteria:
Legally entitled to work in Canada as a student.
In possession of a Social Insurance Number (card) at time of hire.
Currently enrolled in a post-secondary educational institution on a full-time basis and returning to school upon completion of the co-op work term(s).
This position will require the successful incumbent to provide proof of co-op eligibility, a transcript and tax credit form(s) from their school's co-op department.
Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, Asset Management, this co-op position will support activities related to Public Works infrastructure asset renewal planning and capital budgeting.
Believes in the role of municipal government in delivering critical services to communities.
Has a basic understanding in the discipline of Asset Management.
Has a blend of engineering / planning / data science / technical knowledge and business acumen.
Enjoys analytical work and also coordinating/facilitating activities with a broad range of stakeholders.
Duties & Responsibilities
Assist Asset Management staff with capital budget program planning support related to development and state of good repair (SOGR) capital program for municipal Water, Wastewater, Roads, Storm and Solid Waste Management Services.
Perform various data analysis and infrastructure renewal research to support the programming for Development / Growth and State of Good Repair (SOGR) capital projects.
Engage and liaise with Capital Project Managers to obtain project status updates, present progress reports and trends, including and not limited to gap analysis and process improvement initiatives.
Manage and analyze large data sets and apply statistical and/or spatial analysis on Public Works asset inventory and capital budget project information, such as financial trends and infrastructure performance history.
This will be done utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio), GIS, IPFS, Outlook, PowerBI to assist with analysis and summarize results.
Be a part of an exciting and evolving asset management program and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to manage information and report Public Works metrics effectively and efficiently.
Ability to manage changing priorities, multi-task, and communication through various media is important in this position, as is attention to detail.

Skills & Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a Civil/or equivalent Engineering program, Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T) program, Business Administration, Urban Planning, Environmental Sciences, Computer sciences or Geomatics program.
Experience in performing statistical analytics with strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work independently and within a team.
PreferredGeneral knowledge of finance and project management concepts and terminology.
A general understanding of planning, design, construction, contract administration and operations of municipal infrastructure.
