SMS Equipment, our
OHSE Advisor's assist in ensuring that SMS Equipment employees have the knowledge, tools and support required to work in a safety focused environment.

The
OHSE Advisor assists in all aspects of administration whilst ensuring compliance with all legislative and corporate guidelines. We are looking for an experienced safety orientated individual to join our team
in Fort McMurray, AB.
The shift rotation for this position is
7x7.
The salary range for this position is
$90,000 - $100,000.

Responsibilities include but are not limited too:

  • Collaborate with employees and management to identify and correct potential environment, safety and health hazards.
  • Implement safety/health/environment standards and procedures.
  • Advise, assist, support, and guide Company environment, safety, and health objectives.
  • Contribute in the preparation of audits of the safety/health/environment programs for compliance with Company standards, government regulations, and adequacy relative to local conditions.
  • Contribute to the establishment of standards for environment, safety, and health.
  • Identify problem areas, collect information, and make recommendations for remedial action.
  • Inspect employee work areas on SMS sites and customer sites and work with the OHSE Supervisor and management to ensure resolution of environment, safety and health issues, regulations, and company practices.
  • Assist in the adaptation of policies, plans and programs to meet accepted objectives.
  • Coordinate monthly inspections and meetings.
  • Assist in all matters regarding Safety filing, recording, and reporting.
  • Administer the Company Safety Award Program.

Qualifications:


  • Industry experience is an asset.
  • Have a general understanding of the many safety functions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Experience using compliance management systems is an asset.
  • Effectively able to work to deadlines and to own initiative.
