Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, Stollery Children's Hospital Pediatric Cardiology, the Unit Manager provides day-to-day leadership, guidance, and direction to a multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of safe, efficient, quality patient care.

Primary responsibilities include the coordination of clinical activities by providing day to day guidance and support for the staff working in the different clinical areas (including registration, nursing, secretarial support, ECG, and ECHO), staff scheduling, staff education, annual performance reviews, resolution of patient and staff concerns.

This front-line management position is expected to provide clinical leadership to ensure quality care within the departments following unit and organizational policies, procedures and goals.

As a member of the management team, the Unit Manager will be required to assist in development of strategic plans, support process improvement initiatives, and collaborate with team to determine priorities, develop and implement operational plans.

The unit manager is expected to incorporate evidence and best practice into daily operations through collaboration with the multidisciplinary team members and will maintain clinical skills to support the day-to-day clinic operations.

The Unit Manager will maintain open and timely communication with the multidisciplinary team, interact directly with the Physician team, the clinic Physician lead and the Patient Care Manager.

Required Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited Baccalaureate nursing degree program is required. Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) and current CPR (BCLS) are required. A minimum of three years current clinical experience in Pediatric Cardiology required and ambulatory care, experience is strongly preferred. Demonstrated effective leadership and/or supervisory skills are required.
