Minimum Qualifications:


The technician should be:
i) Grade 12, post-seondary, industry associated training.

ii) 1-2 years field experience encompassing all areas of the companies business.

iii) Strong technical aptitude of audio, video & lighting hardware and software to include troubleshooting techniques in a live corporate environment.

iv) Proven ability to direct staff while on-site.

v) Proven ability to act independently and to make informed decisions.

vi) A valid driver's license and drivers abstract.

vii) No criminal record.


Position function:

i) Assist the manager with department supervision, including selection, training, mentoring, supervising, team building and setting development goals.

ii) Ensures that the company's procedures and policies are adhered to. Including our company dress code, this conforms to our venue partners and conservative company brand.

iii) Manage set up, rehearsal, operate rentals requiring presentations. Responds to, troubleshoots and resolves instruction for completing client presentations, including IAV technical staff.

iv) Is responsible for the care, control and security of company property including audiovisual equipment, recorded materials and vehicles.

iv) Deals with the customer at point of service.

v) Works with vendors team to support technology systems.

vi) Working knowledge of electrical and carpentry.

vii) Excellent communication skills.

viii) Must be available evenings and weekends for emergencies. Cell phone allowance given.


Work Performed:


The Technician is responsible for:
i) Loading and unloading audiovisual equipment into and out of company vehicles.

ii) Delivery and pickup of audiovisual equipment.

iii) The setup and dismantling of a wide variety of audiovisual equipment including computer and video projection equipment, sound reinforcement equipment, audio and video recording equipment.

iv) Providing direction to any other Inland staff who might be assisting in the setup, operation or dismantle of audiovisual equipment while on site in order to achieve the timely execution of same.

v) Is the customer's main point of contact while on-site and as such is responsible for, and has the authority to implement any additions or changes that the client may request.

vi) Providing instruction regarding procedures and technical matters to technicians of lesser technical ability

vii) Cleaning equipment with approved methods and examining the equipment to ensure its functionality prior to it being placed back into its proper place in the warehouse.

viii) Overtime as required.

ix) Travel when required.

x) Other duties as assigned.


Exercising Judgment/Impacts of Decisions/Consequence of Error:
Audiovisual equipment is an essential key to communication, both visual and verbal.

If the equipment supplied does not function properly then the entire meeting is jeopardized and the goals of the meeting are in danger of not being met.

Clients will refuse to pay for services not received, and more importantly will hesitate before using Inland AudioVisual on subsequent occasions.

Technicians who fail to grasp their duties cannot be retained as employees and must be released from their employment with Inland AudioVisual.

Conversely, as the main point of contact between the customer and Inland Audio Visual the technician is ultimately responsible for customer satisfaction and thereby has the opportunity to play a positive role in the company's relationship with its clients.


Supervision received and given:


The technician's daily duties and the order in which they are to be done are given to them by the Rentals Co-ordinator and/or the Rentals Manager.

The technicians familiarize themselves with the nature of the duties to be carried out prior to leaving the shop in order to ensure that they have all of the required equipment, cabling, test materials and paperwork.
