TransEd Valley line LRT is looking for an OCC Duty Manager to join their team of Rail Professionals. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Duty Manager will supervise staff in the operations of dispatch and customer service to make sure timely announcements about delays or disruptions are made at TransEd The OCC Duty Manager shall organize and prepare daily operational reports for use by the Deputy Operations Manager; and will also maintain computer systems to retain historical records of on-time performance and delays. The OCC Duty Manager will control SCADA Power and work directly with Wayside when required.

TransEd Valley Line LRT is the first piece of the Valley Line project in Edmonton.

Connecting Millwoods to downtown Edmonton, the Valley Line allows commuters to go from the South East of Edmonton to any where the LRT stops.


A typical day for the OCC Duty Manager

  • Directs all operation activities to ensure safe, prompt and courteous service to TransEd clients in accordance with corporate policies, practices, regulations, and guideline
  • Assesses all train performance reports and daily performance of train operations
  • Immediately respond and correct deviations to the operating plan
  • Provides leadership and direction to Line Controllers on all train operations.
  • Performs operational audits on Line Controllers and ensures that incidents are properly reported and investigated with appropriate action taken to prevent a recurrence with full report to the Deputy Operations Manager.
  • Ensure that Line Controllers have the proper level of job proficiency in order to maintain a high level of employee compliance and competency.
  • Use computers and radio communications to control the safe movement of trains throughout the Valley Line LRT Network.
  • Constantly monitor train movement and conditions affecting their movement, taking immediate action when necessary.
  • Control the Integrated Control System (ICS) and Agility System and monitor video display for performance.
  • Communicate with personnel on weather or any other conditions affecting train movement.
  • Other responsibilities may include keeping travel records, logs and schedules.

What you will bring to the team

  • High School diploma/GED
  • At least 5 years of experience managing a train service control centre, or 5 years of dispatching experience, and 35 years of management experience in operations.
  • Previously qualified as a Dispatcher with a minimum of 2 years' experience
  • Thrive working in a fastpaced, small team environment
  • Be able to switch gears easily and handle multiple tasks at once
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills
