    Position Title - Senior Mechanical Designer, Mining, Minerals & Metals division.

    Purpose:

    The senior mechanical designer supports the layout and design of mineral processing, metallurgical and hydrometallurgical processing facilities and materials handling facilities for studies and engineering contracts.Under general supervision, performs routine to moderately difficult drafting/design and/or technical support assignments, requiring the application of advanced drafting and fundamental design techniques, and engineering and mathematical principles, in accordance with established standards and procedures. May direct the work of junior designers and technicians. The senior mechanical designer will be based in the Worley Vancouver office.

    Responsibilities:

  • Prepares routine to moderately difficult engineering and construction 3D models and drawings from sketches or from minimal information, for any phase of a project.
  • Performs discipline design tasks which regularly require the application of fundamental engineering concepts.
  • Reviews manufacturers' or fabricators' drawings and models for conformance with contract specifications.
  • Performs routine checking and/or verification tasks.
  • Gathers and maintains records of engineering data, reference information from vendor drawings and/or models, catalogs, technical manuals, etc. in accordance with Worley Standards.
  • Assists engineers in preparing input for general purpose computer programs.
  • Supports field assignments as required.
  • What you will bring

    Technical and Industry Experience:

  • Senior level of proficiency in the drafting of mechanical equipment, general arrangement drawings and site layout within Mining, Minerals & Metals projects.
  • Senior level mechanical designer experience or a two-year drafting/design technical degree and a minimum of two years applicable discipline related CAD experience.
  • Ability to read, understand and execute design from MMM process flow diagrams in accordance with the different disciplines' design criteria.
  • Understanding and minimum 5 years' experience in material handling systems design and drafting.
  • Experienced in 3D modeling.
  • Proficient in AVEVA E3D.
  • Proficiency in other 3D CAD software from Bentley or Autodesk such as MicroStation, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and laser scanning software is a plus.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Able to work independently.
  • Responsible for the work of two(2) or more designers in a remote / home office environment.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills; maintain good interaction between clients and team members.
  • Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

    Required:

  • A recognized and relevant design qualification or equivalent.
  • For candidates based in the province of British Columbia, the salary range on this role is: $85,627 to $131,089CAD per year
