(1) Early Childhood Assistant / Cook.


The role:


Reporting to the Center Supervisor, the ideal Early Childhood Assistant Teacher will identify learning objectives of the children, create, and manage a variety of learning environments and activities that will provide opportunities for children to develop to their fullest potential.

The staff will portion/prep and deliver all snacks and lunches for the children, and maintaining a clean and sanitized kitchen.


Learning Jungle teachers work as a team with fellow staff to promote the interests of the children in particular and the school in general.


Employment Type:
Contract: February - October

  • Receiving catered food, portioning/prepping meals accordingly and delivering lunches and snacks to classrooms
  • Cleaning and sanitizing dishes and weekly grocery shopping for the centre snacks
  • Cleaning duties, including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and laundry (centre cleaning)
  • Assist the Early Childhood Education (ECE) Teacher in planning and implementing the daily and weekly program plan
  • Work as team member in the daily operations of the Centre's activities
  • Responsible for effective and practical care of all equipment, toys and supplies
  • Prepare and maintain a safe, clean, stimulating environment for children
  • Attend staff meetings and recommended training programs and conferences
  • Must have a valid and current Food Handler Certificate
  • Knowledge and experience prepping nutritious meals (Follows Food Guide) and snacks and pays close attention to allergies
  • With in 6 months
  • Valid Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Criminal Reference Check


  • Health Check

  • Immunizations uptodate
  • Valid Standard First Aid Certificate including Infant and child CPR
  • An Early Childhood Education Assistant diploma and/or knowledge of Child Care and Early Years Act is considered an asset
  • Professional experience in dealing with young children
  • Demonstrated understanding of and love for young children and enthusiasm for helping to maintain a happy, creative atmosphere in the classroom
