    Call for Electrical Instructors:


    Are you in the Trades and enthusiastic about sharing your skills with women preparing for training and employment in the Trades? Women Building Futures is looking for electrical instructors to teach workshops in our Journey to Trades program.

    This is a contract position. We have classes that run 2-4x /year. Each contract is typically 2 full time weeks at each instance.

    Class content in workshops is delivered over 4 to 5 days, with the second week repeating with a different group.

    Classes are held throughout the year and different trades will run at different times.

    Instructors are provided with lesson plans, so no need for development work You will have some prep to do to get ready for the class, but the skills are entry level so you will just need to bring your expertise.


    If you have done some teaching and mentoring in the past and are comfortable working in an inclusive environment, this would be a great role to build out those skills.

    Key Responsibilities

    Facilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies to promote efficient and effective learning.
    Monitor student involvement and progress within the shop, ensuring that students understand and adhere to policies and procedures.
    Manage classroom dynamics to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.
    Build relationships and mentor students throughout the program.
    Evaluate students throughout the learning process and complete student evaluations.
    Document student attendance accurately and promptly
    Work with WBF staff to ensure tools, equipment and materials for the workshops are ready and available.
    Enforce and encourage proper safe workplace procedures including tailgate meetings, Hazard ID, FLHAs, etc.

    Education & Experience

    Red Seal Journeyperson
    Experience mentoring apprentices and understanding of the competencies necessary to succeed in the field
    Experience working in diverse environments
    A desire to teach and share knowledge of your trade
    Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect sensitive information.
    Teaching experience is an asset
