GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY
Reporting to the Head

  • Transit Control Centre, this position is responsible for overseeing, managing and maintaining the daily operations of the Transit Control Centre. The incumbent will be responsible for managing, responding, directing staff on all realtime operational activities and emergency responses for all transportation modes (subway and surface). The incumbent will possess full situational awareness of the events occurring within the Transit Control Centre (TCC) and will effectively monitor TCC operations to identify and respond to gaps or challenges.

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Manages and directs all aspects of daily operations of the Transit Control Centre to ensure optimal service performance level of subway and surface operations.
  • Directing and coordinating activities of TTC resources during emergency situations to ensure appropriate response and dispatch are provided.
  • Monitoring the operation of all modes (subway and surface) ensuring proper service adjustments are made of the transit system.
  • Participating in the development of annual goals and objectives for the section that are consistent with the overall direction of the Department and the TTC;
  • Liaising with other management/supervisory personnel from throughout the TTC to ensure the proper coordination of joint projects/activities;
  • Promoting and maintaining professional working relationships between team members and other internal and external contacts;
  • Ensuring effective and timely communications are maintained with direct reports, Managers and Head of TCC as well as internal and external stakeholders;
  • Compiling and maintaining daily reports pertaining to service;
  • Developing and maintaining Key Performance Indicators for the Department and Group;
  • Communicate effectively to appropriate stakeholders, in terms of notifications, updates and advisements;
  • Understands the progressive discipline process and carries out disciplinary action as needed;
  • Conducting internal audits on various positions within TCC;
  • Keeping abreast of, and enforcing pertinent Government legislation such as the Ontario Labour Relations Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act etc;
  • May be required to substitute for the Head of Transit Control, or other Transit Control personnel during periods of absence;

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Completion of a postsecondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
