Position Overview
Davey Tree in Canada is expanding our commercial tree and grounds maintenance division.

The Operations Manager will be responsible for undertaking that effort and overseeing all day-to-day activities involving multiple arboricultural and landscape divisions for commercial, industrial, municipal, and residential customers.

In this leadership role, the Operation Manager helps guide the field service teams in providing an unmatched customer experience for our clients.

They will oversee and help train and provide support to the Branch and District managers and other sales and supervisory staff to increase customer base, provide superior service, growth this business segment, and ensure safety performance and improve operational efficiencies are met.

They will work with other Operations and Area Managers throughout Davey Tree as part of a team that provides green industry services across Canada.


Job Duties

  • Direct focus on Davey Operations including P&L, customer experience, and growth.
  • Work with Branch and District Managers to plan and implement project work assignments.
  • Report to the VP of Operations on activities and coordinate with other divisions on cross service line training.
  • Assist with business development, growth into new markets, expanding new services, and identifying new customer relationships in key markets.
  • Perform sales calls as needed to support operations, as well as provide sales training for new and existing sales personnel.
  • Abide by, promote, and enforce Davey and industry safety policies and procedures.
  • Work with local team on recruiting activities, talent acquisition as well as employee development such as delivering training programs to grow and improve the workforce.

Qualifications

  • Preferably 10 years management experience within tree care and/or landscape management.
  • Experience with municipal and commercial customers and project management.
  • Indepth operational experience and knowledge in arboriculture and landscaping.
  • Experience with various tree care, ground maintenance and enhancement projects including but not limited to tree pruning, removals, plant healthcare, lawncare, turf care, landscape maintenance and installation, snow and ice management.
  • ISA Certified Arborist and other relatable certifications are desired.
  • Postsecondary education related to landscape, arboriculture, horticulture, environmental or related field.
  • Valid provincial driver's license
  • Strong skills in communication, both verbal and written, leadership, management, and organization.
  • Ability to work with multiple project leaders in a teambased work environment.
  • Computer and tech savvy with ability to work with budgets, estimating, presentations, etc.
  • Moderate travel is required for this position.
