Point Hope Maritime (a Ralmax Group Company) has an exciting and immediate opening for a fulltime Labourer in Victoria, British Columbia.

Labourers provide a variety of services in the including materials delivery, setting up for specified work on a vessel, preparing vessel surfaces, performing fire watch and hole watch duties, assisting in docking and undocking vessels and assisting other shipyard workers and trades as required.

Responsibilities:

Perform tasks involving physical labor
Operate hand and power tools as necessary
Clean and prepare sites/vessels
Assist trade workers as directed by your supervisor
Load and unload equipment and materials
Prepare vessel surfaces as required
Perform fire watch and hole watch duties
Assist in docking and undocking vessels
Assist other shipyard workers as required
Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

No formal education required
Experience working in a shipyard environment an asset
Confined Space Entry training, Fall Protection and Elevated Work Platform training an asset
Labour experience an asset

Requirements:

Must be able to stand, crouch, kneel and/or sit for extended periods of time, able to lift up to

50 lbs, climb ladders and work from elevation, and walk on varied terrain

Regularly perform repetitive tasks
Ability to work within confined spaces
Possess manual dexterity

Work Conditions

Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steeltoed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.
Overtime as required
Hazards associated with the trade
Work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
