Project Background and Internship
In a series of in-depth studies, the SSI provides global and regional reports and policy briefs on deforestation prevention, forest preservation, and biodiversity.
The SSI team is looking for a current student or recent graduate to support research on policies related to data collection and analysis on policy measures that have been established in selected countries in the Americas to prevent deforestation and preserve forests and their biodiversity.
Assignments and Tasks
- **Conduct research on policy measures that have been established in selected countries in the Americas to prevent deforestation and preserve forests and their biodiversity.
- Conduct research and data collection on policy measures that have been established in selected countries from 1992 onwards.
- Classify the measures found, following the established system.
- Provide the main characteristics of the measures found, along with their objectives, scope, geographical coverage, and implementation level.
- Enter the data into an established database.
- Collaborate and coordinate with team colleagues and partners.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Profile
Undergraduate or graduate students of international relations, international studies, sustainable development, environmental studies, economics, finance, or related disciplines.

Qualifications
- Interest in IISD's mission and related projects on sustainable development and agriculture
- Sound research, analytical, and writing skills
- Well organized and independent, with demonstrated initiative
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other software for data analysis and visualization (optional)
- Native Spanish and fluent in writing and speaking in English.
Eligibility Requirements
- Be in possession of an authorization or work permit for Canada.
- Be enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate master's, or Ph.
- Have excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institutional record.

Compensation:
CAD per hour, depending on experience and education.
