The Service Employees International Union Local 2 (SEIU Local 2) is a 20,000-member organization that represents workers in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

We are currently seeking an Online-to-Offline Organizer.


Position Summary:


We are looking for a dynamic and effective online-to-offline organizer to help us build our online community and support our online-to-offline lead-generation efforts.

This job is all about providing personal one-on-one communications with current and potential members.

This position uses new media and digital tools to organize, advocate on our issues, and increase member and community engagement.

It is a public-facing position involving direct communication with our members, supporters, and the public via multiple online platforms.


The online-to-offline organizer will work collaboratively across communications, field and political staff, and leverage technology to expand our reach, build support for our campaigns, and drive fundraising and offline engagement while enhancing the member and supporter experience.

The online-to-offline organizer will help manage our presence on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.

in addition to helping us grow our presence on more digital channels to help grow the reach and power of our online base.


Responsibilities:


  • Build the size and engagement of our online communities to provide a forum for members and potential members online.
  • Monitor online conversations and actively participate in them to build organization visibility and thought leadership. Ensure that relevant organizing data is recorded and shared with organizers.
  • Produce organic and paid digital campaigns to help identify new leads at target worksites.
  • Develop an active, online network of members and supporters that helps amplify and create online content.
  • Develop scripts for text messages to accompany our field program, and use and train others in using peertopeer texting.
  • Help develop digital and campaign metrics to guide to inform future content and strategies as part of a culture of continuous, datadriven learning and evaluation.
  • Provides trainings on key digital technology and staff.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity within the office using a personal approach that values all individuals and respects differences in regards to race, ethnicity, age, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, religion, ability, and socioeconomic circumstance.
  • Proactively escalate issues, observations, opportunities, and insights to the communications team.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated passion for progressive politics and social justice.
  • Previous experience in field organizing.
  • Familiarity with a range of online campaigning tools, tactics and strategies.
  • Knowledge of trends and technologies used in digital organizing including platforms like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, YouTube, peertopeer and SMS etc.
  • Ability to run basic Meta ads.
  • Previous experience in online organizing, political campaigns, and/or customer service very advantageous but not required.
  • Creative and loves problemsolving.
  • Excellent writer, able to write concisely, clearly and quickly.
  • Experience with VAN, EveryAction, Wordpress, basic HTML, basic graphic design skills in Illustrator, Photoshop or online program like Canva.
  • Ability to work independently, take a concept and run with it, while keeping team members in the loop on progress and feedback or support needed.
  • Able to set ambitious but achievable work goals and be held to hitting these metrics.
  • Bilingual in French strongly preferred.
  • Required to work long and varying hours including weekends, nights and holidays.
  • Requires constant use of independent judgment, selfmotivation, and capability of doing all the above duties with mínimal supervision.

Salary:
$40,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
