    Position Summary

    The Shipping and Receiving and Forklift Operator is critical to the successful operation of a Seabird Island Band Distribution Warehouse. The role requires a responsible operator to load and unload a multitude of material. The Operator is required to administer paperwork and account for transactional activities.

    What you'll do

    • Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections on your vehicle.
    • Keeping a professional and positive attitude while delivering products to our internal department within Seabird.
    • Ensure your truck is loaded properly, as well as emptying out your carts upon return.
    • Fill out paperwork fully and properly.
    • Maintain accurate delivery records and obtain proof of delivery.
    • Maintain tidy and orderly appearance of the warehouse while minimizing hazards to operating safely.
    • Minimize damaged materials and equipment by ensuring proper storage and maintenance.
    • Ensure maintenance of accurate inventory first in, first out, with respect to identification, location, and quantity of all materials
    • Follow an accurate schedule according to warehouse and distribution.
    • Ensure materials and inventory are properly accounted for and discrepancies are resolved.
    • Assist in loading and unloading items from the distribution trucks.
    • Check inventory receipts, and preforming data entry into the system.
    • Inspect the quality and quantity of the items.
    • Prepare shipping documents.
    • Determine method of shipment and prepare shipping documents.
    • Assemble containers and crates, pack goods to be shipped, and prepare identifying information and shipping
      instructions.
    • Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by your Supervisor, Manager, Director, Executive Director, or Chief &
      Council.

    What you bring

    Education

    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Forklift and Pallet Jack Certification

    Skills/Experience

    • Knowledge in Advanced Warehousing, storage and distribution would be an asset.
    • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve in a warehousing environment.
    • Self-starter and ability to think, work, and interact well with others.
    • Ability to remain logical and calm while working under pressure.
    • 1 year shipping and receiving experience.
    • High degree of safety awareness
    • Ability to balance competing priorities, multitask, and to work under pressure.
    • Ability to lift 50 pounds

    Requirements

    • Proficient computer skills with the Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams.)
    • Proficient interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
    • Ability to agree as well as adhere to Seabird Island Band Human Resources (HR), Finance, and Information Technology (IT) Policies and Procedures, etc.
    • Knowledge, respect and understanding of Stó: lō culture, traditions and language or willingness to learn.
    • Experience working with First Nations community is considered an asset.
    • Valid BC Driver's License with a clean Driver's Abstract within the last 5 years.
    • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
