Founded in 1906, MG&CC is a year-round private club that offers golf, curling and tennis, dining, fitness and social amenities.

Our Tudor Clubhouse is a spectacular venue for casual and fine dining, banquets, weddings and various social events and functions.


Position Summary


The Mississaugua Golf and Country Club is seeking a full time Pastry/Kitchen Assistant to join our dynamic and fun team.

The Pastry Assistant/2nd Cook will be responsible for preparing, presenting, storing, and overseeing the production of all baked goods and desserts for the Club.

Furthermore, you will be responsible for accurately and efficiently cooking meats, fish, vegetables, soups and other hot food products as well as prepare and portion food products prior to cooking.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, present and store all baked goods and desserts according to the standards of the Club
  • Prepare pastries including menu items and banquet / event orders for restaurant, event / function and banquet dining
  • Prepare a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment
  • Ensure consistent food preparation and the highest calibre of food presentation, taking advantage of all opportunities to improve upon both
  • Maintain product consistency by regularly conducting inspections of portions, and the appearance of food items
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary work station area including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, sauté burners, convection oven, flat top range and refrigeration equipment
  • Follows proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes
  • Handles, stores and rotates all products properly.
  • Assists in food prep assignments during offpeak periods as needed
  • Assists others in closing the kitchen
  • Assumes 100% responsibility for quality of products served.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Executive Chef and Sous Chef
  • Ensure refrigerators and storerooms are organized and maintained in the various kitchen areas on a daily basis and that all food products are stored in accordance with provincial regulations; minimizing waste and maximizing quality
  • Adhere to the Club's guidelines, policies, and rules and regulations
  • Follow all Health & Safety policies and procedures and sanitation standards

Requirements:


  • Minimum 23 years of experience required
  • Completion of Certification in Pastry / Bakery / Chocolate Work
  • Food Safe Certification
  • Experience in a fastpaced, upscale restaurant
  • Banquet and line experience is an asset
  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 9 hours)
  • Must be able to follow printed recipes and plate specifications
  • Working knowledge and training on all health & safety standards and sanitation standards i.e. Food Safe, WHMIS, Health and Safety Policies, foodhandling techniques
  • Highly organized with a strong focus and commitment to quality
  • Contribute to a positive work environment and demonstrate a positive attitude
  • Work in an efficient manner while managing multiple tasks and priorities
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing demands
  • Ability to build and maintain excellent relationships with diverse people, including kitchen and dining staff
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills
